2008-09 Season Review

The 130th year of rugby at Park and what a cracking season it was! With rumours of big money being thrown around by a number of clubs in the league, we knew that we were in for a tough one from the start. It certainly wasn’t a faultless season as you will see from the results table but what an amazing turnaround in the quality of rugby and also the results from last year. A sterling job down by all of the players, coaches, medical team and support group. It went right down to the wire as well needing a win at Henley away to be sure of second place, having beaten closest rivals Ealing in a cracking game here at the Rock.

Thanks to all of the volunteers and spectators as well that have made it such a fantastic season all round.

End of Season Prize Giving

As for the Players there was a unanimous vote of confidence for this year’s Captain Rob Jewell who scooped both the main awards for the season; Players Players and Player of the season (voted for by the Coaching Team). So huge congrats to Rob and well done on a fantastic year!

Thanks and well done as well to Dan Frazier who has grown as a player immensely having joined us 2 years ago from Chobham. Dan is a Harlequins Academy player that has really learnt & developed his trade (in the dark arts of the front row) here at Park, but as a young man needs to take another step upwards to enhance his chances of making the grade at Quins, so we all wish him every success in the future!!! Go for it Dan, all the best fella!

Whilst the players take a well earned rest, it is up to me to ask that you all re-charge your batteries and come along with even more enthusiasm & passion next season and who know’s collectively we could earn the right to promotion! Why not encourage your mates to come down and be part of it too!
